When thinking about your next home improvement project, here are 10 questions that you should make sure that you ask every prospective contractor as well as yourself.

  • Are they licensed, bonded, and insured?
  • Do they have a clean record with the state contractors board?
  • Do they need upfront money to work?
  • Do they sub-contract any of your work?
  • Are they a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB)?
  • Have they earned Independent Industry certifications?
  • Do they have past customers that I can talk to?
  • Do all products and materials come with lifetime warranties?
  • Do they have a separate labor warranty to back up the one from the manufacturer?
  • After learning the answers to the above questions, do I have any doubts or insecurities about being their customer?

Another one would be to make sure that when you are buying area rugs from a vendor they are credible and have references because it is very easy to produce rugs that are not of quality.
